About this event

The EIC is glad to announce the Breakfast in Rio:  State of Play of Hydrogen Developments in Brazil with Qair

Join the EIC’s South America in the Breakfast in Rio with Qair and ENGIE to present “State of Play of Hydrogen Developments in Brazil”. Qair is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) which operates 860MW of electricity generation assets exclusively from renewable sources. The company is currently financing and building 800MW of new installed capacity, as well as developing as much as 16GW in future projects to be located across its various operating territories.

Last year, the Suape Industrial Port Complex approved Qair Brasil's Expression of Interest (EoI) for the first green and blue hydrogen project in Brazil. The multi-phase initiative, slated to scale-up in operational capacity between 2025 and 2031, will feature a total electrolysis capacity of over 2GW and enable exportation of green and blue ammonia.

As a leader in renewable energy generation in Brazil, ENGIE Brasil Energia has 76 hydro, solar, and wind power plants in its generating facilities, with a total installed capacity of more than 10GW. The company is also present in the transmission segment, operating about 2,700 km of lines in the states of Paraná, Pará, and Tocantins. In addition, the company has projects under study and development to meet the future demand for green hydrogen.
