About this event

Tengizchevroil LLP was formed between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chevron Corporation in 1993 to explore and develop the super giant Tengiz oilfield. Today TCO is the largest and safest company in Kazakhstan which produces and markets crude oil, gas and sulphur.

Tengiz field is one of the world's deepest developed super giant oil fields, with the top of the reservoir at about 4,000 meters (13,000 feet). Tengiz reservoir is 12 miles wide by 13 miles long and the oil column measures an incredible one mile thick. Estimated oil in place in the Tengiz field is 25.5 billion barrels.

TCO completed its Sour Gas Injection and Second Generation Plant expansion project in 2008, which brought daily production capacity to approximately 600,000 barrels of crude oil and 22 million cubic metres of natural gas. The Future Growth Project and the Wellhead Pressure Management Project are major expansion projects for Tengiz that will increase production of crude oil by 12 million tonnes per year (88MMbbl per year).

The Future Growth Project (FGP) is based on TCO’s highly-successful Sour Gas Injection-Second Generation Project (SGI-SGP) expansion project.
Sour Gas Injection (SGI) re-injects one third of produced sour gas back into the Tengiz reservoir at very high pressures to help preserve reservoir pressure. Executed together with FGP the Wellhead Pressure Management Project (WPMP) will keep production at current levels through a pressure boost facility that will maintain pressure in the Tengiz reservoir.

FGP and WPMP will be designed, built and operated in an environmentally responsible manner and will bring significant economical benefit to the Kazakhstani economy through creation of new jobs and large-scale use of local goods and services, as well as providing opportunities to the UK supply chain.
TCO seeks partnerships with suppliers who have; a strong safety culture, reliable operations, quality goods and services, competitive pricing, strong cost-management skills, innovative business solutions and a strong customer and Kazakhstani content development focus.
