Baker Hughes is a global energy technology company providing solutions for clients in the energy and industrial sectors across more than 120 countries, with operations organised into two segments: Oilfield Services & Equipment (OFSE) and Industrial & Energy Technology (IET). Headquartered in Houston and London, the company combines engineering, data and science across the entire energy value chain, and maintains a strong presence in Brazil, where it manufactures subsea flexible pipe systems at its plant in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro.
Baker Hughes has significantly strengthened its position in Brazil in recent years, building a solid partnership with Petrobras. In October 2024, the company was awarded a multi-year project for the supply of 77km of flexible pipe systems for the pre-salt fields of Búzios, Libra, Berbigão, Sururu and Sépia, with deliveries beginning in mid-2026, followed, in March 2025, by a joint technology development agreement to create a new-generation flexible pipe with an extended 30-year service life in high-CO2 environments. More recently, the company secured a major new contract with Petrobras for the supply of 91km of flexible pipe systems, supporting production in Brazil's pre-salt and post-salt fields, with deliveries expected from early 2027, as well as a contract extension for integrated workover, plugging and abandonment (P&A) solutions on one of the world's largest offshore P&A projects.
