Key Highlights
Hydrogen Market Landscape:
Asia Pacific’s hydrogen market remains heavily reliant on grey hydrogen, accounting for over 90% of current production, with limited liquefaction infrastructure primarily located in South Korea.
Growth of Green Hydrogen Projects:
While green hydrogen projects are on the rise, more than 70% are still small-scale or pilot initiatives. Larger developments (above 10 MW electrolysers) are mainly concentrated in India, Japan, and Australia.
Expanding Project Pipeline:
Despite challenges faced in 2025, APAC continues to strengthen its hydrogen project pipeline, with hundreds of developments underway supported by strong government policies and increasing public-private investments.
Driving the Energy Transition:
Green hydrogen dominates the transition landscape, making up approximately 72.9% of total project count—highlighting the region’s strong commitment to decarbonisation.
Supply Chain & Industry Collaboration:
Collaboration across the hydrogen value chain is accelerating, with around 85% of participating companies originating from the oil and gas sector. International partnerships are also driving advancements in electrolyser manufacturing, particularly in India.
