About this event

The EIC is happy to announce the Breakfast in Rio: Independent Players Active in Brazil with Prio and Trident

PRIO is Brazil’s largest independent oil and natural gas producer. The company focuses on acquiring mature assets and creating value through efficiency and cost control. Its core operations include the Campos basin fields of Frade, Albacora Leste, Polvo, Tubarão Martelo and Peregrino. In June 2025 output reached about 123,000b/d, the highest level in its history.Building on this operational success, PRIO has outlined ambitious growth plans.

The company aims to double its oil production over the next two years via short-term projects and add more than 100,000b/d by 2028. Key initiatives driving this growth include a two-phase development at the Wahoo field, where a preliminary licence has been granted for a tie-back to the Valente FPSO. Along with the revitalisation of Albacora Leste, drilling new prospects in the Polvo and Tubarão Martelo fields, and a third production phase at Frade. These projects highlight PRIO's dedication to innovation and growth in the oil and gas sector.

Trident Energy is an independent international operator specialised in the acquisition and redevelopment of mid-life oil and gas assets, with a strategic focus on Brazil's Campos Basin. The company holds a 100% operated interest in the Pampo and Enchova clusters, acquired from Petrobras in a large deal concluded in 2020, and has been progressing in the concessions’ redevelopment program. The project includes the installation of the floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel Odisseia and aims to boost production to 45,000bbl/d by 2027.

Alongside this project, the company is also advancing a major decommissioning program in the Pampo-Enchova clusters, covering 56 additional wells and the removal of 630km of subsea flexible lines that were previously linked to platforms operated by Petrobras in the area. A key recent milestone includes awarding a BRL1bn contract to OceanPact for the cluster’s P&A services, in deal that reinforced Trident's commitment to safe and environmentally responsible asset dismantling.
