1. Aims and Objectives
To fully serve the interests of our membership and the UK energy industries
while treating personal and commercial information with respect.
2. What this Privacy Policy Covers
a. This policy covers the EIC's treatment of personally identifiable
information that the EIC collects when you visit the EIC website
b. This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that
the EIC does not own or control, or to people that the EIC does not employ
or manage.
3. Information Collection and Use
The EIC website automatically collects information in the following circumstances
and for the following purposes:
- When a user logs in to the projects database,
that login is recorded and time stamped.
- When a user accesses detailed project
information, that access is recorded and time stamped.
- Information on user logins is used for
internal management purposes. The information is only available to officers
of the Energy Industries Council for the purpose of ensuring that members
are gaining the best possible from their membership of the Council.
- Statistical aggregation and analysis
of logins and data access may be performed. It will not be possible
to derive the identity of any individual or company from this activity
- The EIC also automatically receives and
records information on our server logs from your browser including your
IP address, browser type and the page you requested.
4. Information Sharing and Disclosure
a. The EIC will not sell, rent or give the information described
in 3, above, to anyone, except as detailed in this 4c.
b. The EIC publishes a Directory of Products and Services containing
information about companies, their capabilities and contact points.
c. Information about identifiable individuals is disclosed:
- When you consent/request that we publish/distribute
the information
- When we need to share your information
to provide the product or service you have requested;
- If we are required to respond to subpoenas,
court orders or legal process
5. Cookies
a. The EIC website sets one cookie per user session. The ASP portions
of the website will not work without this cookie.
b. Web pages linked from advertisements on the site may set cookies.
The exact operation of these sites is beyond the control of the EIC and
you should be guided by the security policies of the companies concerned.
6. Security
a. The Members Area is password-protected and is available to members
only.
b. The EIC will, from time to time, change passwords belonging
to members or groups of members. When this is done, the nominated representatives
of the members affected will be notified by Email.
7. Changes to this Privacy Policy
The EIC may amend this policy from time to time. If we make any substantial
changes in the way we use your personal information an announcement will
be made in a prominent place
