Commercial operations have begun at Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand’s (EGAT’s) Bang Pakong combined cycle power plant. With 1.4GW of capacity, the plant is located in the Chachoengsao province.
Bang Pakong’s capacity can meet the demands of almost 3 million Thai homes.
The facility encompasses two gas-fired combined cycle units designed featuring equipment designed by GE – two 9HA.02 gas turbines, 50 HZ gas turbines, two STF-A650 steam turbines and two W86 generators.
The new plant was installed upon the site of a previous Bang Pakong power plant, originally built in 1977 to run on burning natural gas and diesel.
