Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the Peterhead gas-fired power station and carbon capture project. Peterhead is planned to feature 910MW of installed capacity.
MHIENG, the engineering division of MHI, will also be responsible for the works to be carried out. Worley and Técnicas Reunidas will involved in this process as partners.
Peterhead Carbon Capture Power Station’s planning application was submitted in March this year by developers SSE Thermal and Equinor.
The Peterhead project will replace a 1,180MW gas-fired facility that has been in operation since 1982. Now, it is expected that approximately 1.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of carbon dioxide will be captured.
