Roger Cook, Deputy Premier of Western Australia, launched on 24 August construction work for Pluto Train 2. This will be the second liquefied natural gas (LNG) train at the Pluto gas processing plant in Karratha.
Pluto Train 2 is developed by Woodside Energy (with a 51% stake) and Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP, with 49%).
The train’s planned processing capacity is 5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). It will receive gas from the Scarborough field.
Bechtel is responsible for the project’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC). The contractor has already begun site preparation and expects earthworks to start this year still.
