A planning application for the Common Farm Solar project has been sent by developer Banks Renewables. The 50MW photovoltaic plant in Yorkshire, England, will also feature a battery energy storage system (BESS).
The facility will cover an area of 116 hectares, located three miles from Banks’ Penny Hill wind farm. Approximately 18,800 homes are calculated to receive energy from Common Farm, offsetting 11,470 tonnes of CO2.
Local community projects would benefit from Common Farm Solar through benefits worth over £2m.
A planning committee from the Rotherham Council is expected to assess the application until the end of the year.
