After recently reaching financial close for the initiative, Scatec has disclosed the beginning of construction for the company’s 540MW solar power project in Kenhardt, South Africa. It will be composed by three different solar plants and a 225MW/1,140MWh energy storage facility.
A power purchase agreement (PPA) has already established stating that the project will be supplying Kenhardt with 150MW over the course of 20 years after the beginning of operations.
Scatec itself will be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) as well as operation and maintenance (O&M).
