The Magnum gas-fired combined cycle power station in Eemshaven, Netherlands, has been sold from Vattenfall to RWE. With a value of €500m, transfer will be official on 30 September 2022.
The Magnum power station has been operational since 2013 and has a capacity of 1.41GW.
The transaction also includes the transfer of a 5.6MW solar plant that is part of Magnum’s site.
Around 30% of the station’s fuel can be hydrogen, but RWE has disclosed the possibility of converting the entire facility to exclusively use hydrogen as its fuel. This should be completed in 2030.
