Parkwind, a renewable-energy company from Belgium, will use a £128,63 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to implement its pioneering green energy project offshore Belgium.
Parkwind’s Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm will also be supported by other financial institutions, including KBC, Belfius, Helaba, KfW, IPEX-Bank, Rabobank, Société Général, ING and EKF.
The wind farm, which the installation works are due to start in 2022, will generate power for the equivalent of 290 000 households and is expected to be fully operational in 2023.
Furthermore, the windmills in the Baltic Sea northeast of the island of Rügen will be erected by entirely new floating platforms technology that is expected to be more efficient on difficult seabeds.
