Buru Energy has made public changes to the development schedule of its Rafael project. Located in Australia, the gas field still aims to reach start-up in 2027.
The new timeline estimates that Rafael B will be the first well to be drilled and tested (instead of recompleting the discovery well as a producer beforehand). Works are expected to start in June next year.
Rafael is part of the Canning Basin. According to Buru, it is the only confirmed source of conventional gas and liquids onshore Western Australia.
The operator plans a 20-year operational life for Rafael. Once fully developed, the field should provide trucked liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquids to Pilbara and the Northern Territory.
