GE Vernova has announced that the Hsinta power station in Taiwan is now partially operational. With 1.3GW of generation capacity, the first natural gas-fired unit of the facility's transition project has been put into operation.
Operated by Taiwan Power since 1980s, Hsinta has had four coal-fired units removed to transition to natural gas. The remaining two natural gas-fired units are scheduled to come online later this year and in 2026.
Once the project is complete, Hsinta will have a total generation capacity of 4GW. Each of the plant's units will feature 7HA.03 equipment from GE Vernova in a combined-cycle configuration.
