HYCO1 has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Malaysia LNG (MLNG) for the development of a carbon capture project in Sarawak. It is calculated that 1 million tonnes per annum (Mmtpa) of carbon dioxide could be used and conversed by the initiative.
The MoU states that both companies will carry out a feasibility works for the project, which is planned for Bintulu, base of MLNG and one of Malaysia's oil and gas hotspots.
Also under the agreement, MLNG will initially supply 1Mmtpa of raw carbon dioxide to HYCO1 for a period of 20 years. The plant is expected online by 2029.
