Production has begun from the first Lavrans well in the Kristin South area offshore Norway. The achievement has been announced by operator Equinor and partners Petoro, Vår Energi and TotalEnergies.
In 2021, the companies submitted a plan for development and operation (PDO) of the Lavrans and Kristin Q discoveries as satellites to the Kristin field. This was approved by government authorities in 2022.
The Kristin platform now features a new subsea system that processes oil and gas from the Lavrans field. The gas will be exported to Europe by pipeline, while the oil will be sold to the market by ship.
The project's first phase includes four more wells: free at Lavrans and one in Kristin Q.
