The Canadian government has disclosed that Project Nujio'qonik has fulfilled all environmental requirements from the Newfoundland and Labrador province. The initiative, developed by World Energy GH2, is now allowed to move forward.
According to the developer, Nujio'qonik's environmental assessment lasted 22 months and was carried out in collaboration with Stantec. Qalipu First Nation, which is a partner in the project, also took part in this stage by participating in consultations and executing a Traditional Land and Resource Use Study.
Njio'qonik is planned to produce approximately 250,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year and 1.2 million tonnes of green ammonia. The first phase of the facility will produce almost 400,000 tonnes of green ammonia exclusively for export.
