Prysmian Group has officially been awarded a contract for the delivery of the Eastern Green Link 2 project, which consists of a 2GW high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line connecting Scotland and England.
The company came out as the contract's preferred bidder in May last year.
The contract, valued at approximately US$2bn, was awarded by the joint venture developing the project, a partnership between SSEN Transmission and National Grid.
According to the deal, Prysmian Group will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, installing, testing and commissioning Eastern Green Link 2. The cable system is expected to be operational in 2029.
