The first phase of AES’ Chevelon Butte project comes to an end with the start of operations at the wind farm. The power plant is located in the Coconino and Navajo Counties, Arizona, United States.
This initial phase of the facility involves 238MW of the planned 454MW for Chevelon Butte. The remaining 216MW will come in a second segment, with start-up scheduled for next year.
Once fully built, Chevelon Butte will feature a total of 105 wind turbines. The wind farm will have enough production capacity to meet the electricity demands of approximately 110,000 homes.
