Energean has announced the production of first gas at its North El Amriya and North Idku project in Egypt. The company produced the offshore development’s first gas from the NEA#6 well.
Start-up comes two years after Energean took a final investment decision (FID) on the project in January 2021.
The remaining wells (a total number of three) are scheduled to enter operations as well until the end of the year.
The fields are calculated to hold about 39 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe) of 2P reserves of which 88% is gas. Production is expected to reach its peak in 2024, with 15,000 to 20,000 barrels per day.
