Equinor has just submitted a plan for development and operation (PDO) regarding the Snøhvit Future project to Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. According to the document, total investment is calculated at US$1.3bn.
The initiative plans to upgrade the company’s Hammerfest LNG facility, which receives gas from the Snøhvit field, with onshore gas compression and electrification.
The operator has stated that the onshore gas compression element will enable plateau production to be extended, while electrification will prevent annual CO2 emissions by approximately 850,000 tonnes.
