Eni has confirmed the beginning of production in the HDLE/HDLS oil field in the Algerian desert, six months after its discovery. The field is located in the Zemlet el Arbi concession in the Berkine North Basin.
Zemlet el Arbi is operated by a joint venture, with Eni owning 49% and Sonatrach 51%.
The production at the oil field will be increased under an accelerated development plan, according to Eni. Following the proposal, the partners will drill new wells in 2023.
Preliminary estimates indicate that the HDLE/HDLS find has roughly 140m barrels of oil. The field now produces 10,000 barrels of oil per day (bod).
