The Chinese government has approved the addition of two new AP1000 nuclear reactors to the Lianjing nuclear power plant. Located in the province of Guangdong, the facility is operated by State Power Investment Corp. (SPIC) and will receive the machines from Westinghouse.
Once operational, the two units will be the ninth and tenth reactors to be installed in China featuring Westinghouse’s Generation III+ technology.
Other four AP1000 reactors are already working in the country: two in the province of Zhejiang (Sanmen 1 and 2) and two in Shandong (Haiyang 1 and 2), all producing since 2018.
