IGI Poseidon’s subsidiary ICGB AD has started operations of its Greece-Bulgaria gas pipeline. The 182km interconnection, also known as IGB pipeline, has enough capacity to transport 5 billion m³ of gas.
The 32-inch pipeline goes south-north from Komotini, Greece (where it stretches over 31km), to Stara Zagora, Bulgaria (151km).
The project was carried out by IGI Poseidon, which is a joint venture composed by Edison and DEPA Internal Project, and Bulgarian Energy.
Both the companies invested an amount calculated at €250m for the execution of works, of which €45m was financed by the European Energy Programme for Recovery (EEPR) and €39m was supported by European funds for structure and investment.
A loan worth €110m was also secured through the European Investment Bank (EIB).
