Norte Energia has granted GE Renewable Energy a five-year contract for maintenance services at the Belo Monte hydropower plant in northern Brazil. The 11GW hydro complex delivers enough energy to meet the demands of 60 million people.
The work scope of the contract includes all of Belo Monte’s 24 generation units. Nineteen of them are located at Belo Monte itself, while the remaining six are installed at the complementary 233MW Pimental power station.
GE Renewable Energy had already been involved with Belo Monte during construction and commissioning phases, when the company was responsible for the supply of equipment.
Belo Monte, the largest hydropower project in Brazil, started activities in 2016 and is operated by Norte Energia.
