Terra-Gen has announced that the second phase of its Edwards & Sanborn project in Kern County, California, has reached financial close. The initiative will cover the construction and installation of a 410MWac solar plant and a 1,796MWh energy storage facility.
The company acquired three facilities: a US$460m construction and term loan, a US$403m tax equity bridge and a US$96m construction and revolving letter of credit.
Edwards & Sanborn Phase II should start producing during the second half of this year. The batteries, meanwhile, will be fully operational late 2023.
Mortenson is the project’s EPC contractor. First Solar is the modules supplier and LG Chem, Samsung and BYD will provide batteries.
