Shell and partner Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), through Carigali, its upstream subsidiary, have taken a final investment decision (FID) on Rosmari-Marjoram. Located off the coast of Sarawak, Malaysia, Shell operates the gas project with an 80% stake.
Rosmari and Marjoram are deepwater sour gas fields discovered in 2014. Starting production in 2026, they’re expected to provide together 800 million standard cubic feet (MMscf) of gas per day.
Shell has stated that the Rosmari-Marjoram project will support Petronas’ LNG complex in Bintulu with a sustained supply.
Some of the facilities planned for Rosmari-Marjoram, which will be entirely powered by renewable energy, are a subsea tie-back and an offshore wellhead platform (to be operated remotely). A 207km pipeline will also be part of the works.
