Norway’s Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has awarded Fugro a marine site chracterisation contract related to the Sørlige Nordsjø II initiative. The project involves the installation of a 3GW offshore wind farm in the country.
Fugro will carry out mapping activities of the seafloor, gathering geological data that will be used for further development plans of Sørlige Nordsjø II.
Fugro’s largest survey vessel, Fugro Venturer, will be used for this work. A 900km² area will be covered by the contractor, which plans to achieve more than 5,400km of data.
Sørlige Nordsjø II, one of Norway’s first utility-scale offshore wind power plants, will be split in two phases of 1.5GW each.
