Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Tokyu Land Corporation (TLC) have formed a joint partnership to develop the Aomori South offshore wind project. The plant will be located in northern Japan and its capacity is still unknown.
The partnership resulted in a new joint venture company, Aomori South Offshore Wind GK, that will develop the site in anticipation of participating in Japan’s upcoming auction.
Aomori South, which is also being envisaged by a Vena Energy-Yonden-Toho Gas consortium, has been identified by the government as one of the country’s promising areas for offshore wind facilities.
Japan plans to develop 10GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030, later reaching 30-45GW by 2040.
