Delfin LNG has secured a 15-year sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Vitol for 0.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The SPA’s value is calculated to generate revenues of US$3bn during the contracted period.
The LNG will come from the Delfin Deepwater Port, a floating liquefaction facility located in the Gulf of Mexico.
Delfin Deepwater Port will feature four moorings and four floating liquefaction and storage vessels (FLNGVs) with a capacity of 3.5mtpa each.
With production scheduled to start in 2026, the agreement with Vitol should move the project closer to a final investment decision (FID), expected for late 2022.
