American hydrogen company Plug Power has been granted a 30-year concession for the development of a green hydrogen plant at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Belgium. The 100MW facility would produce 12,500 tonnes of liquid and gaseous green hydrogen per year.
The electrolyser and liquefaction technology planned for the project will be Plug Power’s own.
An open-access pipeline is also included in the scope of work. Fluxys has been selected to carry out feasibility studies regarding the connection of the hydrogen plant to it.
According to the developer, initial output from the plant is expected in 2024 – after the permitting process is entirely finished in the second half of 2023.
Full commissioning will take place later in 2025.
