Petronas has announced that first hydrocarbon production for the phase 2B project of the Bukit Tua field has been achieved. Production is targeted to reach 12,500 barrels of oil per day and 30 million cubic feet of gas per day.
Production is initially coming after the drilling of the BTJTB-T2 well, in the Kepatang block, off the coast of East Java. Another four wells are planned to be drilled.
The Kepatang block is 80% owned by Petronas through two subsidiaries: PC Kepatang II and Petronas Carigali. The remaining 20% are from Saka Kepatang Perdana.
Phase 2B is part of the expansion project for Bukit Tua, an operational oil field since 2015.
