Wood has joined Total Eren’s H2 Magallanes project in Chile. The green hydrogen facility will be engineered by Wood as an off-grid energy complex capable of producing ammonia and green hydrogen.
H2 Magallanes’ electrolysis capacity will be of up to 8GW, in addition to 10GW of wind capacity. A desalination plant and transmission and port structures will also be designed.
The project’s environmental licencing process, to be conducted by Total Eren and the University of Magallanes, which is also involved in the development, will be supported by Wood’s studies.
Construction would likely begin in 2025, with production being reached by 2027.
