China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has commenced production from the Caofeidian 11-6 oilfield expansion project and the Kenli 16-1 oilfield, both located in the Bohai Sea, China. In addition, the company has installed two new wellhead platforms, one for each project.
The Caofeidian 11-6 oilfield expansion project has been taken up in an average water depth of nearly 23m. The project expansion fully uses the already available processing facilities of the field, which had been producing since November 2019.
The Kenli 16-1 oilfield is contained in an average water depth of nearly 15m and fully uses the available processing facilities of Kenli 10-1 oilfield.
CNOOC anticipates that the Caofeidian 11-6 oilfield expansion project will achieve a peak crude oil output of about 4,600 barrels per day this year, while the Kenli 16-1 oilfield is expected to achieve a peak crude oil production of nearly 7,500 barrels per day in 2022.
