Pattern Energy announced today that it has started construction of its Lanfine wind power project in Alberta, Canada.
The 150MW project, which will provide enough green energy to power approximately 25,000 Alberta households per year, is expected to enter full commercial operation by the end of 2022.
The Lanfine Wind project will use 35 Vestas V150-4.2 MW turbines, delivered in a 4.3 MW operating mode. The project, developed by Pattern Canada, will be located to the south and west of Oyen, Alberta in Special Area 3.
Lanfine Wind represents an estimated US$277m investment in Alberta, with long-term and diversified economic benefits, and will bring lasting and diverse economic benefits, including up to 200 construction jobs.
The wind project will also generate landowner revenue and provide tax revenue to the local community, which will directly contribute to education, community services, roads, and first-responder capabilities, in addition to employment and contracting opportunities.
Furthermore, the project will fund a Community Benefits Program to promote local initiatives and community-based organizations.
With Lanfine Wind, Pattern Canada has now built and operated 11 wind energy projects in five provinces over the last decade, creating thousands of Canadian jobs and millions of dollars in direct economic benefits to the local communities.
