Equinor Energy AS has exercised an option to include additional well intervention to the formerly agreed work scope for the low-emission jack-up rig Maersk Intrepid that is in the Martin Linge field offshore Norway. With a firm duration of 31 days, the added well intervention scope has its rig contracted until February 2022.
Including integrated services but excluding potential performance rewards, the value of the firm’s contract extension is approximately £7.5m (US$10.5m). It is entered under the master framework agreement between the two companies, Equinor and Maersk Drilling, in which the parties have committed to collaborate on technology advancements and further initiatives to limit greenhouse gas emissions.
The contract with Equinor Energy AS has a performance bonus scheme based on rewarding CO2 and NOx emissions. Moreover, Maersk Intrepid is an ultra-harsh environment CJ70 jack-up rig, featuring hybrid, low-emission upgrades, and designed for year-round operations in the North Sea. The project was delivered in 2014 and is currently operating for Equinor at Martin Linge.
