A consortium including BP, Statkraft and Aker Offshore Wind (AOW) has been created to bid on new offshore wind projects in Norway.
The partnership is targeting the Sorlige Nordsjo II (SN2) licence area, with each member holding a 33.3% share, and will also pursue opportunities to provide clean power to electrify offshore oil and gas facilities.
The consortium committed to working with local suppliers and companies, and pledged to contribute towards value creation in the Norwegian and European energy market.
BP has increased its portfolio in the offshore wind market in recent months, with the purchase of stakes in two projects off the US east coast from Equinor, and two leases in the Irish Sea.
