Skyborn Renewables has submitted the Polarground project for government approval in Sweden. The company plans to install a 3GW offshore wind farm approximately 35km south of Kalix.
The permit application will now be assessed by the Swedish government and the Land and Environment Courts.
According to the developer, Polarground will feature between 70 and 120 wind turbines. Once operational, the facility will produce up to 10TWh of energy or 200,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year. This is enough to meet 7% of the country's electricity demand.
