Siemens Gamesa has awarded a contract to North Star for the construction of a hybrid service operations vessel (SOV) to be used at the East Anglia THREE project under a long-term charter.
The contract also mean that North Sea is involved in two of the world's major offshore wind developments. North Star is also supporting the Dogger Bank wind farm initiative, having already delivered three of four SOVs ahead of schedule.
East Anglia THREE is the third development phase of the offshore wind farm development by ScottishPower Renewables off the coast of Suffolk, England. It is designed to feature a production capacity of 1,400MW, enough to power over 1.3 million households.
The delivery of the SOV is due in late 2026, when East Anglia THREE is planned to be commissioned.
