Hitachi Energy has been chosen to work on the Marinus Link, an electricity and telecommunications interconnector project in Australia. The company will deliver high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology for the transmission line.
Marinus Link will be built between the states of Tasmania and Victoria, covering over 340km. The project also includes HVDC cables, fibre optic cables and substation in both states.
Works will be carried out in two phases, each installing a link with a capacity of 750MW.  Once complete, the Marinus Link transmission line will have the same capacity required to power 1.5 million homes in Australia.
