First oil has been achieved at ConocoPhillips' Eldfisk North project in the North Sea. The tieback, part of the Greater Ekofisk Area, has been put into operations weeks ahead of the operator's initial plan.
Eldfisk North has been developed in partnership with companies including Var Energi and required a total investment of approximately £890m. The project's operation plan was greenlit by the Norwegian government in 2022, being valid until 2049.
ConocoPhillips and its partners in Eldfisk North aim to produce up to 90 million barrels of oil from the project.
