Equinor has decided to move forward with two energy storage projects in the United States. Combined, the two projects have a total capacity of 110MW and will support the energy security of the state of Texas.
According to the developer, construction is already ongoing at Sunset Ridge Energy Center's (10MW/20MWh) project site, located in Frio County. Meanwhile, the Citrus Flatts (100MW/200MWh) project is being prepared for implementation.
Dask Commodities, Equinor's energy trading subsidiary, will be responsible for commercialising the two facilities once they're operational. Sunset Ridge is expected to come online in the second half of 2024, while Citrus Flatts is scheduled for early 2026.
