Japanese engineering company JGC Corporation has been selected by ENEOS and Sumitomo to work on a green hydrogen project in Malaysia. JGC will be responsible for the plant's front-end engineering design (FEED).
ENEOS and Sumitomo, with the collaboration of Malaysia's SEDC Energy (SEDCE), are currently developing a supply chain in the country that will export green hydrogen to Japan.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the green hydrogen facility was signed in 2020. The plant is planned to be able to produce around 90,000 tonnes per year of green hydrogen, of which 2,000 tonnes will be locally consumed in Sarawak.
Operations are scheduled for 2030.
