Sempra has organised a ceremony for the beginning of Port Arthur LNG's construction in Texas, United States. Now being built in Jefferson County, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal reached a final investment decision (FID) in March last year.
The first phase of Port Arthur LNG will feature two natural gas liquefaction trains and two LNG storage tanks, with an initial capacity for 13 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).
Bechtel Energy was chosen by Sempra as the project's engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor. The trains are expected to start operations in 2027-28.
