Terna has been granted approval by the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security to go ahead with its Adriatic Link transmission project. The initiative covers the installation of a transmission line linking the regions of Marche and Abruzzo.
The transmission line consists of two submarine cables of approximately 210km each and two underground cables of 40km each. Terna will also carry out construction of conversion stations in both Abruzzo and Marche.
Adriatic Link's approval process involved more than 120 meetings with stakeholders since December 2020. Terna estimates the project's total investment to reach US$1.4bn.
