Zenobē Energy has been granted a funding of approximately US$188m from retail banking company NatWest for the development of a 300MW/600MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Kilmarck South, UK. Construction works have already begun at the project's site.
SMA Solar Technology AG will work in the project as battery inverters and medium voltage power stations supplier, while Wärtsilä will be the BESS supplier. Omexom will be carry out the facility's balance of plant and GE Grid Solutions will provide 180MVA transformers.
The Kilmarck South BESS project is part of Zenobē's efforts to reach a 1.2GW BESS portfolio in Scotland.
