The Petroleum Authority of Uganda has made public the winning bidder for the development of a new oil refinery in the Hoima district. The refinery, whose construction will require a total investment of US$4bn, was awarded to Alpha MBM Investments.
According to the agency, the financing and construction of the refinery are already being concluded with Alpha MBM.
The Hoima refinery is planned to have a processing capacity of 60,000 barrels of oil per day. The plant will be built to produce a range of products including LPG, kerosene, petrol, diesel, jet fuel and heavy fuel oil (HFO).
The project also covers the construction of a 211km long, 10-inch diameter pipeline connecting the Hoima Refinery and the Buloba Petroleum Storage Terminal in Kampala.
