Tecnimont, a subsidiary of Italian company Maire, has been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for a green ammonia project in Norway. The project is under development by Australian technology and metals company Fortescue.
According of the contract, Tecnimont will be responsible for the design of electrolyzer integration, the air separation unit for nitrogen production, the ammonia production plant and storage and ship loading facilities.
The agreement also enables Tecnimont to present an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) deal for the green ammonia plant.
The green ammonia facility is part of a larger project. Called Holmaneset, it will feature electrolyzers for hydrogen production through the use of hydropower.
