HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has awarded Wood a contract for the design of topsides for the floating production unit (FPU) to be deployed at Trion, in Mexico's area of the Gulf of Mexico. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is the FPU's engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.
The award follows the conclusion of Trion's pre-FEED and FEED studies.
Trion is under development by Woodside Energy and Pemex, which announced a final investment decision (FID) on the project in June 2023. Total investment for the initiative is calculated at US$7.2bn.
First oil is targeted for 2028.
